12  Confluence Connector

Use this guide for a Confluence Cloud or Server/Data Center connector. Nous indexes pages, supported attachments, comments, and the scope selected in the form.

12.1 What is indexed or searched live

For Confluence Cloud, the Sophea-managed OAuth grant reads the pages and spaces available to the authorizing Atlassian account. For Server or Data Center, confirm that the configured endpoint and credential can read the target wiki.

12.2 Administrator role and authentication

Sophea manages the Atlassian OAuth app for the standard customer path. The authorizing Atlassian account needs access to the target spaces and pages. An Atlassian organization or site administrator may need to approve the OAuth app for the customer organization.

The OAuth grant requests read:me, Confluence content and summary read scopes, space summary, search, user, and read:space:confluence access. You do not create an OAuth app for the standard path.

12.3 Provider setup and permissions

Confirm the Confluence base URL and the account’s space access. Select Cloud for an Atlassian Cloud URL. Clear it for Server or Data Center. Use the least scope that contains the pages the workspace needs.

12.4 Setup form fields

Field What to enter
Name A unique connector name. The default is the Cloud site name when available.
Is Cloud On for Confluence Cloud. Off for Server or Data Center.
Wiki Base URL The base URL, for example https://example.atlassian.net/wiki.
Using scoped token Turn on only when the supplied Atlassian token uses scoped permissions.
How Should We Index Your Confluence? Choose Everything, Space, Page, or CQL Query.
Space Key The space key when Space is selected, for example KB.
Page ID The page ID when Page is selected.
Index Recursively Include the selected page and its children.
CQL Query A query that returns page objects. Do not add time filters.
Who has access Choose Everyone in the workspace or Specific Teams.

12.5 Workspace and Team access

The connector cannot read a page that the Atlassian account cannot open. Use Use Specific Teams for a smaller workspace audience. Portal manages Team membership. A Team share does not change Confluence permissions.

12.6 Test the connection

  1. Save the connector and wait for source sync and search indexing.
  2. Open a known page in Confluence as the authorizing account.
  3. Search for its title and a distinctive phrase.
  4. Check that attachments and comments expected by the scope appear.
  5. Test Workspace or Team visibility with the intended users.

12.7 Common errors

Error Action
OAuth approval is required Ask the Atlassian organization or site administrator to approve the app.
No pages are found Check the base URL, account access, and selected space or page.
CQL returns no content Return page objects, remove time filters, and check the CQL syntax.
Server connection fails Clear Is Cloud, use the correct base URL, and confirm the server credential.

12.8 Reconnect, rotate, and remove

Use Reconnect when the Atlassian grant or account access changes. Sophea rotates the managed OAuth app. If an Atlassian administrator changes app permissions, reconnect and test again. Before removal, check document sets, agents, and Team shares.
